Aluminium cans are among the most familiar recycled objects in everyday life, yet they hold endless creative possibility.
I’m fascinated by the qualities of the metal — lightweight yet durable — as well as the vibrant colours and textures the cans reveal when crushed and flattened.
From this came Tin Turtle, inspired by the idea of cans becoming the turtle’s protective shell.
Tin Can Toucan grew from both the wordplay with its name and the bird’s distinctive beak and character.
With Grill Fish, the inspiration arose from the irony of transforming a discarded grill into a fishbone carcass that appears to “grill” a school of tiny fish.
